Brr - welcome to Fall

Our lovely weather pattern has gone from warm, 80 degree weather last week to 57 degrees today. Seriously, it's cold! It's wreaking havoc on poor Noah's health. I think it started as allergies (he's allergic to mold, among others) but now it's a full blown cold virus. Very thankful that it's not the flu, but he's coughing his head off. It makes his asthma flare up too, so he's using his inhaler more often.

I just fixed him some toast with honey, since I read honey is good for coughs. Hoping it helps and hoping I don't get it :)

Back to School = Back to Germs

The boys are in their third week of school and already, one is sick. No amount of hand washing has kept the germs away. I got the call today from the school nurse to pick up Ethan. He had a headache and low grade fever. But, I couldn't get to him. It was doctor day for my folks, and I was taking my Dad to his 2nd appointment for the day. I had to choose between my dad and my son, and I chose my dad. His appointment was for biopsy results, which, Praise God, were good. Ethan was picked up at school by a friend of ours, who I am hoping doesn't get sick now.

I am the sandwich generation and felt it more so today. My little guy didn't seem upset that I didn't pick him up. Bless his heart, he even told the nurse that I might be busy with Papaw's appointment and not be able to get him. No way was I leaving him at school feeling icky. I am thankful for my friends that are helping me keep it all together. They are a blessing!

They're Going Back!

Today is the last day of summer vacation - I think we are all ready for school to start. We have enjoyed our last few days of being on break. We went canoeing on Friday and really enjoyed it. Nobody tipped over, although I was with David, and we managed to turn ourselves backwards a few times :) We spent 3 hours on the river and only saw 3 other canoes. Very peaceful and fun family time.

Josh took the boys to play Lazer Tag yesterday - they had a blast! Definitely a good male bonding time.

Noah has made a Lego building station in the basement. He loves Legos and had run out of room in his bedroom for them. He took an old microwave cart, and is using it to store his extra pieces and to the open shelf to build on.

That sums up our Labor Day weekend. Back to a schedule in the morning!

The boys and I had a great time at the zoo yesterday. The weather was sunny, not humid, and not crowded! We got to learn quite a bit about the animals - they have volunteers at most of the exhibits. The volunteers were great with the boys, and Ethan got an animal fact card from each one.

Ethan was asked to help during the Meet-A-Keeper in the Gorilla Exhibit. He got to have the male silverback, Jomo, climb a tree. The zoo had been training Jomo all summer to climb a tree and Ethan held up the orange pole for Jomo to see. After Jomo climbed the tree, he was rewarded with fruit. I only have a picture of that on my cell phone since David had taken the camera and apparently didn't notice it was his brother doing the training.

School starts next week and so does a new path for me.
